Church of San Leonardo

Rural communities have always demonstrated particular religious devotion. The church of San Leonardo was completely rebuilt in 1593 during the period after the Counter-Reformation and the teaching of St Charles Borromeo, archbishop of Milan, whose diocese extended its boundaries to incorporate the Ticino valleys. Religion has also played a fundamental role in the creation of music, all the way through to the present day.

If you’re interested in an unusual musical experience, why not make a glass harp (glasspiel). Take eight wine glasses. Leave one empty, which will be Do. Then fill one with 1/9 water (Re), one with 1/5 water (Mi), one with 1/4 water (Fa), one with 1/3 water (Sol), one with 2/5 water (La), one with 7/15 water (Ti) and lastly, one with 1/2 water, which will be the other Do. You have now created a Do Major scale and can start playing by running damp fingers around the rims of the glasses.
